Gatwick has two terminals. They're not next to each other — they're separate buildings connected by a shuttle train. Arriving at the wrong one on a tight schedule is a genuinely stressful experience. Here's how to make sure it doesn't happen to you.
The two terminals at Gatwick
South Terminal is the larger and older of the two. It handles the majority of flights including easyJet, British Airways, TUI, and most charter airlines. It's directly connected to the Gatwick train station.
North Terminal is slightly newer and handles a smaller selection of airlines, primarily Jet2, Norwegian, and some seasonal operators. It's a short shuttle ride from the South Terminal and train station.
How to find out which terminal you're using
- Check your booking confirmation email — the terminal is almost always listed
- Check your boarding pass once issued — it will state North or South Terminal
- Check the airline's website — most list terminal information on the flight details page
- Check the Gatwick Airport website using your flight number
Quick guide by airline
This is a general guide — always verify with your specific booking as airlines occasionally change terminals for individual flights or seasons.
- South Terminal: easyJet, British Airways, TUI, Vueling, Iberia, Air France, Delta
- North Terminal: Jet2, Norwegian, Wizz Air, Easyjet (some routes), Emirates, Aurigny

What happens if I'm at the wrong terminal?
The inter-terminal shuttle train runs every few minutes and takes about 3–4 minutes. The walk to and from each shuttle station adds another 8–10 minutes each end. So a wrong-terminal error costs you 20 minutes at minimum — plus the stress. During busy periods, add more.
How we handle this at Hawkhurst Taxis
When you book with us for a Gatwick taxi, we ask for your terminal at the time of booking. Your driver will go directly to the correct drop-off point, which is different for North and South. If you're not sure of your terminal when you book, we'll remind you to check and confirm the evening before your trip.
